My daughter Lisa is very clever with her camera. Sometimes when it's something I really like I take a picture of the Computer screen and capture her photo so I can have them with me. These are and example. She took pictures of Quinn and her friend son Jackson. SO CUTE!!!

landon and quinn

Well before we leave on our summer trip before going back to school I want to post some pictures of Landon and Quinn.

Baby Quilts

I make baby quilts for the Ward Relief Society and these are two of my latest. The blue will go to Tammy Brashear and her baby boy and the pink to Wendy Graves who is having a girl. Tammy and Wendy are sisters and are due a week apart in September. My goal was to finish them before our trip to Ariz and Utah in Aug. I took them to Michelle Christison last week. They are both done in the disapearing nine-patch design that I pick up from my neice in law Alice over Spring break while in Utah. They make up so easy and quick. I've even taught it to some of my high school student who have had lots of success with it.

laura birthday

We took Laura out to eat a our local mexican resturant and then home for cake, gifts and gifts.

more of Idlewild

One view of the Thousand Trail camp ground.

This site has a fishing pond and this family were caghting some nice trout.

They also have horse back riding. I took these pictures because the rangler told us the story of how she got this mustang. She (the horse) was rescued by the PLM in the Big Horn Mountain in Wyoming. Family and friend will know that thats where I grew up. The tatoo on her neck is a government brand that indicates that she is a true wild mustang. Well now she is very much loved by the rangler and campers alike in the mountains of Southern California.

idlewild getaway

We needed a quick escape from the chores on the Spencer's "Farm" so we packed up and went to the mountains above Hemet Ca. - Idlewild- Our friends from Hemet, Chris and Michele came up on our second evening and had dinner with us. It was a very nice exit from the heat.

These mountains are know for the Manzanita tree. It has beautiful dark red wood and is protected. One of the rangers stop while we were taking pictures and told us that the berries are edible which we never knew. He said the locals boil them when they turn red and make jelly. We found a small clump of ripe red ones and tried them and they were very good.

nap time

After church on Sunday we all took a nap. Derrick was out of town so I spent the week end with Lisa and the kids and she came to church with us. Of course Quinn is in her favorite spot and so is Triton our Australian Terrior that is next to me wheather I want him or not. Actually he is a lot better with Landon and Quinn than I thought he might be before we had grandkids. He terorizes Bella and Roxy (the other two dogs that we have here) Bella -Lisa's dog and Roxy Cody's. Roxy is the border collie that you see with the goats in my last posting.

oops

Well I thought I had pictures! Then I did a preview and only the explaination. So I will try to reload and post pictures.

day in the life of Bud and Debi

I'm practicing and managed to load some pictures now I need to add labels and explainations. In our front yard Bud has a small orchard of apples, aprcots, orange and a grapfruit. He also has 5 geese that are grouped three live in the orchard and two are next door. Our neighbors have a big back yard that was over run by weeds untill our geese were alowed to visit or as Bud would say 'work' over there and now two live there full time and the others occasionally - the weeds are gone. The neighbors all like to watch as Bud gets his shepherds cane and walks them over and back each day. Its really a fun thing to watch.
In the back yard I have been working on the square foot garden that I have been moving to make way for my rasberry expansion. In the sq. ft. garden we have squash, tomato, cucumbers and pumkin. Near the house we have a fig tree and two pomigranit trees that are a couple of years old and have producted a hand full of fruit last year and promised to give a few more this. But my biggest accomplishment is getting a handle on our own uncontrolable weed patch.
Since most of my family is far away I thought it would be fun to share with you some of the things that we the Spencers have on our 3/4 of an acre here in Norco the 'Horse capital' a bit of country here in southern Calif that is quickly becoming more concrete and roadway every day.

Back with Landon and Quinn

So after our short road trip and working in our yard Lisa called saying that she didn't feel well and Laura and I high tailed it back to her house so we could babysit and get her to the doctor. Lisa will probably tell you all about it on her blog. We are just so glad we got her to the doctor and she is on the mend. So I got to spend another 2 and a half days helping them out. Playing with Landon and holding Quinn and granma's greated pleasure

first week in July

After babysitting for Lisa so she could go shopping for running shoes, working on after baby wieght, Bud and I set off on an overnight road trip. We headed down the coast toward SanDiago staying overnight in our Road Trec at a road rest stop just before Oceanside. I was surprised how many other cars and vans were parked for the night. Of course there was big rigs lined up for the night so we were not alone. Drove alone the coast and visited acouple of beach areas that we have been to over the years. I really like traveling in our van. I don't get car sick like I use to and we are fully contained so I get up and move around when I need to. But like many of us we were really bumbed when we filled up at the end of the trip.

welcome new blogger

My daughter is blogger queen and I have visited a lot of blogs thru her sight including my sister Becky, my sister-in-law Linda and my other sister Phyllis. So I figured it was about time for me to join the masses. I have never been good at scrap booking although I have many boxes of pictures and albums to put them in. Well maybe this will be my thing.
For family it will be a link to my world. For my students at Colton High school a place that they can see their accomplishments. And for fellow crafters/quilters a place to see what I've been up to and exchange ideas.
